Toyota Coaster — Private Minibus Charter with Driver

The Toyota Coaster is the fleet's private minibus — twelve to twenty seats by configuration, with a centre aisle and hotel-friendly size, chartered with an English-speaking driver for family parties and small groups.

Toyota Coaster

The Coaster is the smallest true bus in Japan — short enough for a hotel forecourt, tall enough to board upright through its folding front door. For a party that has outgrown two vans but does not want a coach, this is the shape that fits.

The interior

Inside the cabin

Interior view of the Toyota Coaster minibus aisle and rows

Rows of two-tone seats along a centre aisle — 2+1 or 2+2 depending on the configuration — with curtained windows and grab rails. Everyone boards upright, sits where they please and talks across the aisle: a moving family room more than a vehicle.

Seat layout

Where everyone sits

Twelve to twenty seats by configuration, in 2+1 or 2+2 rows along a centre aisle. There is no bad seat at this scale — every row keeps a window and the aisle keeps the party connected. Tell us your headcount and we assign the right configuration.

Luggage

What the compartment holds

A minibus has no underfloor bays: cases ride the overhead shelves and a rear in-cabin stack — about ten large cases and fifteen carry-ons in practice. For a full-luggage airport party we run under seat capacity or send a luggage van alongside; say the case count and we plan it.

Figures are a conservative guide for full-size airline luggage — send your exact case count and we confirm the fit before the day.

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

How much luggage fits in a Coaster?+

About ten large cases and fifteen carry-ons, carried overhead and in a rear in-cabin stack — there are no underfloor bays at minibus scale. A full-luggage party books it under capacity or adds a luggage van; we plan that with you up front.

Can the Coaster reach places a full-size coach cannot?+

Often, yes — hotel forecourts, temple approach roads and mountain ryokan drives that turn a large coach away will usually take a Coaster. It is the biggest vehicle that still travels like a private car.

Is a guide or attendant seat available?+

Yes — the front jump seat beside the door suits a guide or coordinator, kept clear of the party's rows. Guided days pair naturally with our Tailor-Made Journeys service.
