Location
Yamanashi Prefecture is easily reachable from Tokyo, it takes only 2 hours to travel to. Travelling in town in Yamanashi-ken feels like a world away from the bustle of the capital. Rooms
Fujisan Onsen Bessho SASA offers 17 rooms, completed renovation in June 2014. There are 3 types of rooms, Mizuho, Fukuchi and Asumi. Mizuho and Asumi are ideal for those who want to enjoy a private and relaxed atmosphere with 2 to 3 people. Fukuchi is a larger space with a capacity of 5 people, and a decked terrace with a wide sense of openness. All accommodations offer separate living rooms and are equipped with an open-air bath and are located with a view of Mount Fuji.

Dining
Fuji Onsen Bessho Sasa offers breakfast in 3 places: room, hall, and dining room. For dinner, you can enjoy the dishes made with seasonal ingredients prepared by the professional chefs. You can only taste meals that are unique to the area where you can enjoy the view of Mount Fuji, such as dishes using local specialties and rare ingredients.

Onsen
Fuji Onsen Bessho Sasa is famous for its “Fuji Onsen“, which boasts a pH of 10.3, one of the highest in Japan. Enjoying the highly alkaline hot spring, not only help restoring your health balance, but also removing dirt and keratin from your skin, making it smooth and beautiful.

Public onsen services include an indoor mineral hot springs (Japanese-style onsen) and a yukata (Japanese robe). These services feature separate men and women areas.

Built by Fuji Kyuko Co. Ltd. and the Horiuchi Koankai Foundation, the construction of the Fujiyama Museum was completed in July, 2013. Fuji from the original perspective of modern and contemporary artists. Visitor can learn the rich natural beauty of Mt. Fuji as Japan’s natural asset through different artworks and educational activities.

Right next to the Fuji-Q Highland, there is a modern hot spring facility, Fujiyama Onsen. The bath house features nice, traditionally styled wooden baths and offers both indoor and outdoor baths segregated by gender.

Mt. Fuji Panorama Ropeway (7 km)

The Mount Fuji Panoramic Ropeway ascends 400 meters from the eastern shore of Lake Kawaguchiko to an observation deck near the peak of Mount Tenjo. You can enjoy the panoramic views of the lake Kawaguchiko below and of Mount Fuji from the observation deck, which sits more than 1000 meters above sea level.

Apart from taking the ropeway, hiking is another option to descend. It takes about 30 minutes from the observation deck down the forested mountain slope, while a different trail leads to a small shrine 300 meters uphill, located at the summit of Mount Tenjo. From there the trail continues on to Mount Mitsutoge, a popular day hike with good views of Mount Fuji.

Lake Kawaguchiko (10 km)

Lake Kawaguchiko is the most easily accessible of the Fuji Five Lakes with train and direct bus connections to Tokyo. Located right at the base of Mount Fuji, the best views of Mount Fuji can be enjoyed from the lake’s northern shores. It will be a memorable trip to visit during Cherry blossom season around April, or early November, when autumn starts and maple trees covering the road.

Kawaguchi Asama Shrine (9.2 km)

Kawaguchi Asama Shrine is one of approximately 1,300 Asama shrines in Japan that enshrine the deity of volcanoes in general and Mount Fuji in particular. The shrine is part of the Mt. Fuji UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site, designated in 2013.

Lake Saiko (17 km)
Address: Saiko, Saikonishi, and Saikominami, Fujikawaguchiko-machi, Minamitsuru-gun

Lake Saiko is the second smallest of the Fuji Five Lakes, with a maximum water depth of 71.7 meters, which is the second deepest one among the five lakes. It is surrounded by steep, wooded slopes on all sides, and Mount Fuji is visible only from the westernmost tip of the lake.
