Makkura Taki is one of the Kirifuri hidden waterfalls. This waterfall spans a tributary of the Kirifuri River, and is said to have been named because it used to be a dark place even in the daytime. In addition, it is a waterfall that flows northward, which is rare in Japan.

From JR Nikko Station / Tobu Nikko Tobu Nikko Station, take the Tobu Bus bound for Yumoto Onsen or Chuzenji Onsen for about 45 minutes, get off at “Chuzenji Onsen”, change to the bus bound for Hangetsuyama, and get off at “Hangetsuyama”. 30 minutes
*Bus bound for Hangetsuyama operates seasonally (mid-May to early November)
