We are sure that you have heard about Kyoto and Kinkaku-ji which is golden pavilion. Kinkaku-ji is a temple and it is one of Kyoto’s leading temples. It was built at the end of the 14th century originally as a villa for its age’s shogun at the time. The building was converted into a temple of the Zen sect of Buddhism, which is famous for the practice of religious meditation.
In fact, Kin means Gold in Japanese and the shining Kinkaku is a symbol of Kyoto difenately.
This temple has been burnt down many times in the flames of war but it was restored in 1955, with major improvement work being done on it in 1987, so that all of the gold leaf has been replaced. Finally it is recognized as a World Cultural Heritage, Kinkaku-ji is one of the historical buildings in Japan.The wooded grounds are lovely to walk.
